The Real Truth- Songs To Deal With Hating the World

So what can I listen to? Obviously we want something aggressive, loud, and pissed off like me. So what makes it into my CD player when I'm this mad? nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, deftones, Shellac, STALE, Local H, Pantera, Megadeth, MetallicA.....I could probably go on but I'll leave it there. So here's a list of my favorite Pissed Of Songs. 

1. tourette's- nirvana- In Utero: I've always said In Utero is the best nirvana record but especially when you're pissed about something. tourette's is deep into the cd and is a blistering 1:30 of gibberish, yelling, and ear bleeding guitars and drums.
2. XYU- the Smashing Pumpkins- Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (Twilight to Starlight): The Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite band ever. They can take you to either end of the spectrum...most notably on the epic and brazen double disc release Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. XYU is track 9 on the second disc and is so pumped up with angry vocals, loud guitars, and pounding drums.  
3. I Saw What You Did and Know Who You Are- Local H- As Good As Dead: The opening lyric says it all....."Maybe the life I lead is coming back on me" 
4. Prayer to God- Shellac- 1000 Hurts: A song that is merely a prayer to God to kill a cheating wife and the swine who slimed his wy into her drawers.
5. Scowl- STALE- Something Worth Holding Onto: Crunchy guitars, booming drums, angry vocals....all in the first track. Crank it up and start wishing.
6. Hexagram- deftones- self titled: Chino Moreno just hits hard. The song goes from laid back in the verses to a very angry chorus. PLAY! Worship! PLAY PLAY! Worship!
7. Hellbound- Pantera- Reinventing the Steel: It's all about the hook. Simple, "Hellbound! In Ft. Worth,TX."  With Anselmo shredding his throat it's just awesome.
8. Metal Militia- MetallicA- Kill Em All: For the most part all of MetallicA's older stuff is fast, loud, and angry. No exception here.
9. When the Lights Go Out, You Go Out- Josh Smokes Too Much- Yes Poochie, the Sonic Assault is Over: The art grind messiahs bring it on in their latest death dealing CD.  
10. Slings With Arrows- Great American Headache- Payola: High octane drums, slamming guitars, and a hook "I don't want your blood on my hands". This song will move you to rock. 

On the other end of the spectrum there are times when I feel great and therefore need music that befits the mood. Some of the bands that I like to listen to when I am happy? The Smashing Pumpkins, Zwan, blink 182, Weezer, Riddle of Steel, KanYe West, Weird Al, Liam Lynch. So yeah...here's a list of my favorite happy songs.

1. Lyric- Zwan- Mary Star of the Sea: Zwan was nothing but happy songs, but this opening track of their one and only record is arguably the happiest. It makes me realy happy anyway.
2. Depends- blink 182- Cheshire Cat: There's nothing like a poop joke set to music. This is one of those songs and it makes me smile.
3. El Scorcho- Weezer- Pinkerton: "El Scorcho, Aye Cara!" It's a slow and fun jam.
4. The New Workout Plan- KanYe West- The College Dropout: Another song that just makes me smile.  
5. Rock and Roll Whore- Liam Lynch- Fake Songs: Happy. How can you not be when you're singing about backstage Betty's?
6. Got this Feelin'- Riddle of Steel- Got This Feelin': It's a lot harder to talk about happy songs then it is pissed off ones.
7. Pennies- The Smashing Pumpkins- The Aeroplane Flies High (Zero Disc): Light and airy for a Pumpkins song. Pennies for sale.
8. The Unveiling- Insane Clown Posse- The Wraith (Shangri-La): Say what you want about Psychopathic but one thing that is consistent about all the acts is there is at least one song on every album that just makes you feel good. This one (whether true or not, and I believe it to be so) the ICP tells us God is behind their work. A very good feeling emanates from this song.
9. Now You're A Man- DVDA- Orgazmo Soundtrack: "What makes a man? Is it the girl by his side? Just cuz she's got big titties. Is it the way he fights every day? No....it's probably the titties!"
10. Young, Dumb, and Ugly- Weird Al Yankovic- Alapalooza: All of Weird Al's work makes me happy. I chose this song because of one line and one line only, "We squeeze our toothpaste tubes from the middle" . My wife always squeezes the toothpaste from the middle and it irritates me.
